The present building for this historic church was built in 1851. The neo-gothic structure, constructed of stone catches the eye of any first-time passer-by who might drive along highway 138 just 30 minutes outside of Montreal’s city limits.

Organist Gerry LaPalme was entrusted with doing the research for a new organ when it became evident that the 30-plus year-old instrument was now becoming too costly to repair. After an exhaustive search of available brands, Gerry recommended a Rodgers Insignia 557 organ. The installation was carried out by Allard Musique of Joliette QC, Rodgers representatives for southern Quebec.

Gerry not only enjoys the realism of the sound of the 557 but also the numerous orchestral voices built into the instrument. While the church is over 150 years old, music has not stood still in this church with a variety of musical styles being used by Gerry and Georgetown’s choir. The new 557 with its orchestral voices makes it all the more possible.
